The reality is that it is never too soon to start thinking about and talking about your future. While it is true that counselors can help you on your educational and career path, we are more than that. Counselors are here to help you with Goal setting, Academic plans, Career plans, Problem-solving, Education in understanding of self, including strengths and weaknesses, Transition plans, Individual and small-group counseling, Individual/family/school crisis intervention, Peer facilitation, Consultation/collaboration, Referrals, Academic skills support, Organizational, study and test-taking skills, Post-secondary planning and application process, Career planning, Education in understanding self and others, Coping strategies, Peer relationships and effective social skills, Communication, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and study skills, Career awareness and the world of work, Substance abuse education, and Multicultural/diversity awareness, among so many other services that wouldn’t fit on this page. • We recommend that students take the PSAT in October of their Sophomore & Junior years. This test is great preparation for the SAT and it is the only test that can qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship.

  • We recommend that students take the SAT or the ACT in the Spring of their Junior Year. It is a good idea to do this rather than wait until your senior year as it leaves you plenty of time for a second try if you're not happy with your score. It also leaves you time to focus on your college application in the Fall of your Senior year.

  • The SAT/SATII/ACT tests do have the ability to be taken with a fee waiver. In order to learn more about fee waivers, please come and talk to your counselor in the counseling office.

  • You will need to create a username and password at the registration sites. In addition to registering for the exams, you can also take practice exams and view your scores.
